Welcome

Accessible Design is intended to help web designers create accessible web sites, so they are accessible to users with disabilities. It is expected that web designers using this web site already know the basics of designing with HTML/XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.

The Accessible (X)HTML section explains the difference between HTML and XHTML and the various document types. There are also the basics of (X)HTML accessibility, as well as how to ensure links, images, tables and forms remain accessible.

The Accessible CSS section explains how to apply CSS styles to the XHTML document while maintaining accessibility. Text formatting, colors, layout, position and alternative style sheets are explained in this section.

The Accessible JavaScript section contains information about creating JavaScript scripts that are both accessible and readily usable. There is also information about how JavaScript interacts with screen readers and how to use page-redirect scripts.
